Fire destroys vacant house near Arthur

A fire that destroyed a house near Arthur on Friday has been deemed suspicious.

Firefighters responded to a call on the 5th Line, east of Arthur around 9:30pm on Friday. When Fire Chief Dave Guilbault arrived on the scene, he says the house was "fully involved, and there was a partial collapse".

Teams from the Arthur and Mount Forest fire stations were joined by firefighters out of Grand Valley and Fergus to battle the blaze.

The house was vacant when firefighters arrived. There were no injuries.

Fire officials suspect arson caused the blaze, and an investigation has begun.

The house was not insured and damage is estimated at around $250,000.
