GOJHL: Siskins and Cyclones claim narrow victories

Waterloo 3 Elmira 2

The Waterloo Siskins pulled their goalie in the third and scored twice with just over two minutes left to beat Elmira 3-2.

Justin Zuber had the game winner with just 45 seconds in regulation. Sam Spaedt tied it with the extra attacker on the ice at 17:52 of the third.

Matthew Prucha opened the scoring for the Siskins early in the first. Kurtis Goodwin answered for the Sugar Kings at 14:36 of the second and Anthony Azzano's power play goal just 70 seconds into the third gave Elmira the lead.

Listowel 4 Brampton 3

The Cyclones scored twice in the first and held on to beat Brampton 4-3.

Brayden Krieger and Rylan Bowers put Listowel up 2-0 heading into the second.

Ivan Brewer scored short handed less than three minutes into the middle frame to put the Bombers on the board. Bowers second of the game just over a minute later extended the Cyclones lead once more. Brandan Fisher put the Bombers to within a point heading into the third.

Krieger scored his second of the game on the power play a minute into the middle frame. Andrew Reynolds tried to spark a late game rally for the Bombers but it was all the offense the host team would manage.

Krieger and Bowers led the Cyclones with a pair of goals and an assist each.

Kitchener 4 Cambridge 0

Christian Linton made 25 saves to earn the shut out in Kitchener's 4-0 win over Cambridge.

Alex Peterson led the Dutchmen with a goal and two assists. Tyler Harrison, Kyle Kennery and Kole Scott also scored.

Two the Dutchmen's goals were on the power play and the other two were short handed. Chris Taylor set up both of the power play goals. The Redhawks gave the Dutchmen 10 power play opportunities.

St. Marys 2 St. Thomas 2 (2 OT)

Blair Butchart tied the game midway through the third and neither team would score after that as St. Marys and St. Thomas played to a 2-2 tie.

Carter Schoonderwoerd's short handed goal late in the first would open the scoring for the Lincolns.

Liam Fedak put the Stars on the board late in the second.

Colton Wiacek gave the Stars the lead early in the third but it was short lived.
