Central Huron council wants to see what other councils are doing before making a decision on councillors' compensation for the next term.
The federal government has removed an exemption on one-third of a councillor's remuneration, effective in January.
That means starting in the new year, councillors will be making less than they had in the past, when they enjoyed that one-third exemption.
Some municipalities are considering increasing compensation for council members to bring it up to the level it would be at if the exemption was still in place. Huron County council has already approved the increase.
Mayor Jim Ginn said Central Huron wants to wait to see what other municipalities are doing before they make a decision.
