UPDATE: Operating rooms at Clinton hospital closed

We're learning more about a surgical unit shutdown at the Clinton hospital.

The C-E-O of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says they've been able to move many of the programs from the Clinton Hospital to the Stratford site while part of the roof in Clinton is being repaired.

Andrew Williams explains the part of the hospital still includes the original farmhouse the hospital was built around and it was the ceiling in that part of the building where the problem occurred.

Williams said,  “the lathe and plaster started to detach and fell in to the sub-ceiling and it's adjacent to our OR's so from an infection control point of view, we've had to close off the second floor space to go in and do the remedial work, which we expect is going to take about twelve weeks.”

“All of the work we do in Clinton is out-patient, so if we can't accommodate it at our Stratford site, we'll look at re-scheduling to when the OR is re-opened in about twelve weeks. Fortunately the majority of work we've been able to re-schedule into our Stratford facility which is one of the benefits of having the relationship that we do between our sites,” he added.
