The executive director of the Four County Labour Market Planning Board says this is the right time for young people considering career options to look at opportunities at Bruce Power.
Gemma Mendez-Smith said the company's Life Extension Project is expected to last more than 20 years, so people should be looking into the types of jobs that are being advertised there now.
“Paying attention to the types of jobs that are being advertised, talking to people in the field of those jobs that are being advertised as to what type of training will be required to get to the level I'll need to be employed through that project will be beneficial for our young people,” said Mendez-Smith. “We're looking at other highly-skilled professional jobs. You know you're talking about engineers and physicists and different types of jobs that are opening up, you know, project management, team leads, all of those types of jobs that are opening up and understanding what the criteria is for getting into those jobs.”
Mendez-Smith said a good place to start getting information would be the Career Opportunities Page on the Bruce Power website.
