The long-time legislative assistant to MP Larry Miller is seeking the Conservative Party of Canada's nomination for the riding of Grey Bruce Owen Sound.
Chad Richards, who has been serving Miller for seven years, said he helped local residents, businesses, and organizations navigate issues with the federal government.
"Having somebody as our candidate, and hopefully as our MP, who has the knowledge and the experience to be able to jump right into that role is important, so that's why I'm putting my name forward," he said. "I love serving people. The most satisfying part of my job is when a constituent calls me and I am able to help them navigate whether its regulation or legislation or an issue they are having, I take tremendous satisfaction in being able to help people out that way."
Richards' has two political degrees from Carleton University.
He said she is immensely proud of his roots and proud to serve the riding.
Richards siad he intends to bring a fresh, energetic and experienced voice to Ottawa.
He added that he plans to release some unique policy and position statements during his campaign.
