The 2017 Huron County International Plowing Match group will be dissolving shortly, but not before making another donation.
That will be in Exeter on February 13 at Jessica's House, a hospice that opened in 2018. The donation was originally scheduled to be presented on Tuesday, January 29, but bad weather wiped that out and forced a rescheduling.
This donation, and the one made Friday night to the Huron Residential Hospice, marks the continued community support of the Huron County 2017 IPM committee.
Chair Jacquie Bishop said they presented over $100,000 to 55 non-profit organizations in 2018, and their chairs were each given $2,000 to give back to the charities of their choice.
$40,000 also went back to service clubs for their help at the gates and the tented city and in the lounge.
As her responsibilities wind down as chair, Bishop said she plans to stay on as a volunteer with their new Legacy Fund.
“With this Legacy Fund, I volunteered to stay on to help create it and to manage it," said Bishop. "And it will be so rewarding to be able to give that money out to young people or people that have chosen to go back to school.”
