South Bruce OPP credit continuous community support for the success of Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce.
Since the local program began in 1987, it has lead to the arrests of 1,634 people and the clearing of 2,641 cases. Police recovered over $53 million in stolen property and drugs, which lead to $264,085 in rewards.
OPP Detachment Commander Krista Miller said community safety is a shared responsibility, and Crime Stoppers make it easy to pass along information to police.
She said the program thrives on anonymity, and tipsters are never asked to share their personal information. They receive a code number which they can use to find out if they earned a reward of up to $2,000.
Police marked Crime Stoppers Month for January, with the theme "Say It Here."
