Exeter wins Game 1 of their PJHL quarterfinal series

The Exeter Hawks began their PJHL Yeck Division playoff run with a 5-2 win over Aylmer.

The Hawks jumped out to an early two goal lead in the first before Alymer answered with just over two minutes left in the opening frame to make it 2-1 heading into the second.

Exeter's Jake Weston fired his first goal of the game into the twine at 15:13 of the second to give the Hawks another two goal lead. Alymer's Eric Scherer put the Spitfires to within a point just over a minute later.

In the third, Carter McLlwain gave the Hawks some insurance with a goal around the midway point. Jake Weston's scored his second of the game on the power play with just over a minute left in regulation.

Weston led the Hawks with two goals and Evan Hayter had a goal and an assist. Max Bannon set up two for the visiting team.

The Hawks and Spitfires play Game 2 of their Yeck Division quarter final on Friday at 8 p.m. in Exeter.
