The CEO of Home Care Ontario believes the changes in our health care system announced by the Ford government this week will help organize patient care at the local level.
Sue VanderBent said patients will have more help navigating the public health system 24/7, and the teams will provide continuous access to care and smooth transition, so it would be less sporadic than it is now.
VanderBent said she believes having the focus at the local level will result in a more collaborative approach to the delivery of health care.
"It drives the accountability to work together and that's between the big players, like our hospitals, like our family doctors, like our home care providers, our mental health providers," she said. "It really makes all of the providers work together in an integrated way."
VanderBent said the end result will mean more front line care and that's what Ontario patients have been asking for.
