The United Way Perth-Huron still needs to raise another $90,000 to meet local needs.
The annual campaign has three weeks to go, and the push is on to ensure local programs and services have the funding they need.
“We are at the start of another three-year funding period and we want to support as many organizations as possible,” shared UWPH Executive Director Ryan Erb. “We are reaching out to ask the public to donate in any way they can to help us help more local people.”
“Supported programs and partners include a new initiative through Family Services Perth-Huron to help address youth with mental health challenges; the Huron Food Bank Distribution Centre, which supplies food to local community food banks; the Local Community Food Centre, whose Food Skills Programs provide access to fresh, local food while also cultivating the skills people need to cook healthy food on a budget at home; and organizations like Stratford-Perth Shelterlink and Huron Safe Homes for Youth which between them sheltered 205 at-risk youth in Perth and Huron last year.”
“Without United Way funding, Shelterlink couldn’t exist,” shared Stratford-Perth Shelterlink Executive Director Bev Hagedorn. “UWPH provides funding over a three-year period, which is significant. It gives Shelterlink more stability and allows us to get down to the business of looking after our kids.”
All donations to UWPH stay locally in Perth and Huron County.
“It’s important for people to realize that they can see their donation at work in the faces of people on their street – every year over 30,000 individuals and families across both counties are helped by the funds UWPH provides,” noted Erb.
United Way Perth-Huron is a 100% local organization working to address unignorable issues in our community and create lasting change.
