2019's 3rd suspected fentanyl death in Hanover

Hanover police and the Coroner's Office are investigating the third suspected fentanyl overdose this year.

Paramedics responded to a report of an unresponsive 31-year-old female at a home on April 3, and she was transported to the Hanover and District Hospital and later transferred to the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound. However, she never regained consciousness and has since died.

A post mortem was conducted in London and Hanover Police Service investigators are awaiting toxicology reports to confirm the cause of death.

The Hanover Police Service is continuing to urge the public not to be tempted to take any illegal drugs. It is impossible to know the exact components of the substances, where they have come from or what effects they may have on any individual.

The Hanover Police Service is requesting anyone with information about these deaths or the distribution of illegal substances to contact their dispatch line at 519.364.2411. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online by submitting a secure web tip.
