North Perth is joining the other Perth County municipalities in a joint effort to establish a new position in the county to look at climate change.
North Perth CAO Kris Snell said the municipalities applied for a grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to fill that position, which aids Perth County in being more climate-conscious.
"The municipalities are going to work together to look at how we can both prevent climate change but also adapt to climate change," said Snell.
The grant received covers 90 per cent of the cost of the new position, which the county is already looking to fill in the near future. Snell said the new staff member will be looking into climate change and adapting to it all throughout Perth County.
"They will be working out of the North Perth office mostly, but they will be travelling to all seven municipalities on a regular and routine basis," said Snell.
