UPDATE: Transport truck crash closes local road as clean-up gets underway

**Updated as of 4:05 p.m. June 4, 2019**

A crash in Perth County has caused a temporary road closure.

Perth Line 72 remains closed between Road 169 and Road 173 near Atwood, west of Newry, for clean-up following a collision Tuesday morning. OPP have responded to the scene and are encouraging drivers to avoid the area.

The OPP have confirmed the closure is due to a transport truck leaving the roadway and landing in the creek at the side of the road. Officers arrived on scene just after 11 a.m., and the 55-year-old male driver, who was the lone occupant in the truck, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. There is no time frame for the road re-opening.
