The reeve of North Huron feels the Village of Blyth should be the site of a new Huron County administration building.
Bernie Bailey made the comments at the township's regular council meeting on Monday, noting Blyth is near the centre of the county, and is, therefore, better suited to be a county seat compared to Goderich.
Bailey said some members of county council are travelling much further to attend meetings than others.
Earlier this year, Jason Morgan of Alan Avis Architects costed out a new Huron County council building at $18.8 million, which would be located at the site of the former Victoria Public School in Goderich. Additional "costs and variables" would bring this number closer to $26 million.
The North Huron Reeve says he has already brought the idea up at county council and will continue to push the possibility as Huron County makes plans to build a new county administration building.
