United Way Perth-Huron executive director receives national award

The executive director of United Way Perth-Huron has received United Way’s highest national staff honour.

Ryan Erb was presented with the George Hart Award for his extraordinary contribution to his community and to United Way Centraide at a national level. The award was given to Erb at a national gathering of UWC leaders in Toronto.

UWCC, the national office of the UWC federation in Canada, gives out the George Hart Award (formerly the President’s Award for Excellence) biannually to a UWC employee of extraordinary distinction on a local or national level.

"I’m incredibly moved by this honour," said Erb. "Speaking as someone with deep roots in Perth and Huron, being able to work in the communities I know and love to help give everyone the chance at a better life is a great privilege. The George Hart Award will motivate me to do even more within our region and repay the faith and appreciation United Way has shown me."

Under Erb’s leadership, United Way Perth-Huron has worked to change the perception of the organization.

In 2018, United Way helped over 32,000 people across the region access important social services and programs, when and where they needed them.
