Huron County staff identify priorities during series of meetings

Huron County's CAO recently summarized the results of a week of meetings between council and senior staff aimed at identifying strategic priorities and action items.

Meighan Work said they looked at short-term priorities and then at some of the expectations over the long term.

Some of the discussion was a response to what's happening at the provincial level and that would include finding ways to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability.

“There's also a lot of interest in continuing to explore economic development opportunities," she said, "as well as engaging with our communities in effective ways to make sure that they're aware of initiatives that are happening at the county and all of the services that are available and provided to them through the county.”

Wark added several of the issues discussed during those meetings were related in one way or another to economic development.

“So looking at the development of a new tourism strategy, conversations relating to how do we ensure that we are business development ready, what strategies do we have for working with our partner municipalities to ensure that we're streamlining processes," she said.
