OPP lay charges after $105K boat and trailer stolen in Huron

A witness helped Huron OPP officers recover a stolen pontoon boat, engine and trailer package valued at nearly $105,000.

On Thursday, July 18, 2019, shortly before 10 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call from a witness that reported some suspicious activity taking place at a marine retail & service centre located on Bluewater Veteran's Highway north of Grand Bend.

The caller reported he observed some suspicious people hooking onto a trailer and pontoon boat after-hours at the business so he confronted them. The suspects quickly departed the business towing the boat and trailer northbound on Bluewater Veteran's Highway and officers were on the lookout. A short time later, an OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle and pontoon boat pulled over on Dashwood Road.

Subsequent investigation confirmed the pontoon boat & trailer were in fact just stolen from the business. As a result, the investigating officer arrested three suspects at the scene.

A 34-year-old man, a 64-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, all from Mount Albert, face several charges.
