The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance is one of four Southwestern Ontario groups that have been invited to submit full Ontario Health Team applications to the province.
Alliance CEO Andrew Williams said their original application involved over 50 health care providers across Huron and Perth, including primary care, emergency health services, community services, home care, long term care, hospices, and hospitals.
"The health team concept of working in a more integrated fashion fits nicely with the approaches that we take, certainly respects the independence of the organizations that are involved, but also recognizes that there are certain parts of our health care system that very much overlap one another and we need to better coordinate that," said Williams.
Williams said 31 groups out of more than 150 have been invited to go to a full application for a health team.
The deadline for the complete submissions to the province is October 9.
