Huron OPP seek trail vandals

Huron County OPP officers are looking for vandals responsible for thousands of dollars in damage to various areas of the Goderich to Auburn Rail Trail [G.A.R.T.]

Over the last year, vandals have caused extensive damage to various entrance points onto the trail. Large cinder blocks and posts have been tampered with and pushed off to the side. In other cases, they have been completely removed. Four large green gates have also been stolen.

Presumably, the removal of the barriers is done in an effort to gain access onto the trails for motorized vehicles which are prohibited on the trail.

That portion of the rail trail is managed by the Maitland Trail Association.

Any person with information regarding these mischiefs or thefts is asked to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
