Clifford calling for ideas to create community energy

A community meeting in Clifford this week helped generate some ideas to create some energy around the community.

About 50 people participated.

Minto's Economic Development Manager Belinda Wick Graham said the next step is to sift through the ideas and figure out which ones to pursue.

"It's all about getting their ideas down on paper. We're going to take their results, put them all together and bring it back to them," said Wick-Graham. "And have the community decide which things they want to work on together and the township will be there to support them."

Wick-Graham said the goal is to mimic what other communities have come up with to promote themselves, like Harriston Rising and All Aboard Palmerston.

"They've both identified themes and have really engaged the community and rallying around identifying beautification projects and just all different ways to attract people downtown and make the downtown beautiful around those themes," she said.

Some of the ideas put on the list included telephones, with Wightman based in Clifford, food, antiques and artisan shopping.
