The Rutabaga food competition judging was one of the highlights of Saturday's Rutabaga Festival in Blyth.
Judge Lynda McGregor says the judges found a very handy outline, called EAT to help them in the judging. She notes “Those are guidelines and EAT stands for Execution, Appearance and Taste. So our judging is based on those three categories”.
McGregor adds creativity and imagination also influenced their decisions.
McGregor says there was also a People's Choice segment for the judging that allowed members of the public to “pay a toonie and they can sample things and then vote on what they think are the most deserving in each of the categories.”.
