Search Continues for Missing Kincardine Woman Lois Hanna

Hundreds of volunteers turned out for a weekend search for Lois Hanna of Kincardine who went missing from her home in 1988.

The founders of the organization "Please Bring me Home," Nick Oldrieve and Matthew Nopper, arranged the massive grid search in an area on Kairshea Avenue in Huron Kinloss after getting new tips about the case.

A man who lived north of Lucknow has come forward saying he heard a scream in the middle of the night she disappeared, and a year later his son found a bra in the same area.

Oldrieve said he was grateful for the 200 people aged 10 to 84 showed up to help on a rainy Saturday.

He explained, "the senior people, just to even see them out there crawling, on their stomachs, to get into these areas that need to be looked at, was just unbelievable. Even Dave Hanna [Lois Hanna's brother] said it was above all expectations he had."

Oldrieve said this morning they revisited some areas of interest along with the Hanna family and human remain detection dogs, but still found nothing

"But with every area that is disproved or looked at, and everything is thrown at, it just gets us closer to where she is," he said.

He added Saturday's search did uncover some areas that require further attention, places where a shoe or a pile of rocks were found.

Oldrieve said they will do a few more searches in the area, and he promises they won't give up until they bring Lois home.

He added, "There will definitely be a couple more visits to that area at least, with the human remain detection dogs. Likely another small search, just with a small group to comb in on the high-interest areas."

He adds they will exhaust every clue until Hanna is found. She was last seen at the Lucknow Homecoming. Her car and purse were at her home. She never showed up for work the next day.

Township of Huron-Kinloss Mayor Mitch Twolan and MP Ben Lobb were on hand to show support for Saturday's search.

Montgomery Bus Lines offered the use of their school bus and three local residents towed hay wagons to help take searchers to the different locations

Other volunteers and the companies and individuals who donated food, soup and water and other supplies. Zehrs of Owen Sound donated water and snacks.
