Don't get used to the mild temperatures, they're going to disappear Saturday.
Peter Kimbell, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada, said Midwestern Ontario could see record amounts of precipitation for this time of year on Saturday and it will start as rain.
"But that's going to change [Saturday] as temperatures fall below zero behind a cold front," said Kimbell. "And that transition will happen, probably in the afternoon hours, which means a portion of the rain that we would be accumulating will be falling as freezing rain."
Kimbell says the stark change in temperatures could lead to flash-freezing in areas.
"Depending on the location of the area with respect to the cold front, more or less will fall as rain, freezing rain, ice pellets or even snow," added Kimbell.
There is a special weather statement in effect for the entire area covering Huron, Perth, Bruce and Grey as well as Wellington.
Rainfall warnings have been put in place for areas further south of the region including Lambton County and London-Middlesex.
