Trying to avoid RIDE program results in charges for Kincardine resident

A Kincardine resident is facing an impaired charge after allegedly trying to avoid a RIDE check in Wingham.

Early on the morning of December 22, officers were conducting a RIDE check in Wingham when they observed a car make an abrupt turn in an attempt to avoid a checkpoint at Josephine Street and B-Line Road.

A traffic stop was conducted shortly thereafter and after officers detected the odour of alcohol on the driver, a roadside screening test was administered that registered as a fail.

A 23-year-old man from Kincardine has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

His vehicle was impounded and his license suspended for 90 days.

He will appear in court on Monday to answer to the charge.
