The municipality of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh continues to experience significant growth.
Mayor Glen McNeil feels council is now in a position where they can create more office space and accomodate that growth.
McNeil says a lot of people seem to want to live in A-C-W and the value of their building permits, year to year, has increased by about six million dollars. McNeil says that's great for the municipality but one of the consequences is they now have to hire more staff. He says “We're doing a lot of business and that is wonderful for Ashfield-Colbrne-Wawanosh. The other side of that, we need more staff. So we have recently hired a plumbing and septic inspector and also support staff for our building department.”
McNeil points out their current municipal building isn't large enough so they're looking at expanding and renovating the building to create more office space and more meeting space. He adds council has already approved the drawing that will allow them to move forward with the project.
McNeil continued “Our current facility is not large enough, so we are looking at expanding and renovating our current municipal office and council has approved drawings to proceed with that to the next step. We're adding additional office space, meeting space.”
