The number of cats saved from a single home by The Guelph humane society now sits at 105.
Spokesperson Louise Frost says the owner surrendered the animals to the society, and most cats were taken in on Wednesday, with the final felines assessed by the end of Friday.
Together the community raised over $30,000 in 72 hours to help care for the animals. The rescue itself cost a minimum of $20,000.
All of the cats have been assessed and provided with basic medical care, such as vaccinations, microchipping, spays/neuters, and parasite control.
Surprisingly, most of the cats appear to be in fair condition, considering the number of cats that were living together.
GHS has noted several cats in desperate need of additional specialized care. One cat that needed immediate extra care was Sophia.
Sophia had her wellness check last Wednesday and it was evident her eye had a severe prolonged and untreated eye condition. She was in pain and in desperate need of care.
GHS immediately scheduled her in for surgery. On Thursday, Sophia had her eye removed and spay at the same time. Now, Sophia is recovering well and is much more comfortable. She is slowly adapting to her new safe home at GHS.
The cats are being monitored closely and GHS will keep the community updated as to when they become available for adoption.

It was a busy, but very rewarding, few days for the whole GHS team.”
