Goderich Mayor John Grace brought council up to date on a task force that's being formed to look at a long term plan for the Goderich Airport.
Grace said the airport is an aging facility so they know they have to put some money into it over the next five or 10 years. But he said the time to look at is now to determine what they want it to look like.
“But we really need to look at it now to see what it looks like, who's gonna be involved. We know that we need partners and we know that it's an important asset, not only to the town of Goderich, but also to A-C-W and the county, and actually county-wide.”
Grace said it's important economically, socially, recreationally and for health care. He added it's needed because of the hospital location and the transfer of patients and economically in this age of just in time delivery it's very important.
Grace said there are only five or six people on the task force and all of the players are represented and on board with the goals. He said they hope to come back with a recommendation within three or four months and six at the most.
“Economically it's important, socially it's important, recreationally it's important and also for health care. We need it because of the hospital location and the transfer of patients. Economically, it's vital, especially in this day and age, where everything is just in time," he said.
