Recently announced farming legislation supported locally

Former CKNX Farm Director Andrew Campbell says he's happy with the legislation announced recently by the province to help protect farmers and processors against activists and trespassers.

Certainly I think it's a step in the right direction in terms of trying to make sure that people realize these are private businesses, these are our homes, where we're raising our families, you know, it's not okay to just come on the farm."

Campbell added he believes they need to make sure law enforcement recognizes how much of an issue it is for the farming industry.

“The next step then is to ensure that law enforcement recognizes and realizes just how much of an issue it is for our industry, so that when we make that call, dispatch recognizes that, yup, we've gotta send somebody and the officer at the time knows how to handle that situation.”
