The Owen Sound Police have started an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the death of a member of the West Grey Police Service which occurred in the early morning hours of February 18.
Constable Cory Trainor was found dead in a police vehicle on Sideroad 6 in Southgate Township.
The ongoing investigation into the 28-year-old constable's death is not criminal in nature and is not being deemed suspicious.
The Owen Sound Police Service has expressed sincere condolences to the family, co-workers and friends of Constable Trainor.
“It is with great sadness that we hear of the loss of one of our West Grey Police Service officers,” said Mayor Christine Robinson, chair of the West Grey Police Service Board. “On behalf of the municipality and the board, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the officer’s family and continue to offer support to the West Grey Police Service during this difficult time.”
West Grey flags will be lowered to half-mast as the community continues to mourn.
