The Y in Goderich is generating more revenue

The regional manager for the YMCA told Goderich council Monday that the local Y is doing well this year.

“We're actually at one of the highest points we've seen in the last couple of years," said Lindsay Whitaker.  "We were around 1,800 at one point last year and we're up over 2,400, so we've had a really strong first winter here, which is really nice to see.”

She added the winter is always a good time for them because people are still working on New Year's resolutions and it's too cold to do much outside.

Whitaker said their revenues for this year also reflect the increase in members and is encouraging.

“Our overall ask this year is just over $800, 000 for all of recreation for the year and we are hopeful that we will get that," she said. "It's an increase of about $100,000 over last year.”
