Ashfield-Colborn-Wawanosh wants to bring natural gas to residents

Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh council is supporting a request from Auburn residents to get natural gas into the village.

Enbridge has expressed an interest in bringing natural gas to Auburn.

"So we are proceeding with a letter to Enbridge that will be forwarded to the provincial government regarding the desire to have natural gas come into Auburn and we want to make that available to our residents," said Mayor Glen McNeil.

And he said there is no direct cost to the municipality.

"We're very cooperative with any organization that wants to benefit our residents and we may be able to give some considerations to Enbridge if they're able to do this for the benefit of our residents, so it's a direct business relationship agreement between Enbridge and the residents," added McNeil.

He said if all goes well, natural gas would be available in Auburn in 2021 or 2022.
