Traffic stop leads to multiple arrests

Perth County OPP have arrested two people and charged a third following a traffic stop in Listowel last week.

On Thursday, April 9th just after 4:30 pm, police stopped a vehicle on Davidson Street North after noticing the validation sticker on the license plate was expired.

During the stop, officers noticed that cannabis was readily available to the driver in the vehicle. Police also located methamphetamine on the passenger. While being interviewed, the driver provided a false name, was suspended from driving and had probation orders.

As a result, the 31-year-old driver from North Huron, identified as Jamie-Lynn Gilkinson, the 21-year-old passenger from North Perth, identified as Jeremy Welsh and the 39-year-old vehicle owner from North Huron, identified as Adam Konkle, who allowed the vehicle to be driven by someone without insurance, are facing a number of charges.

Those include Obstruct a Peace Officer, Fail to Comply With Probation Order and Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

The accused have been released and will have a court date scheduled for later this summer at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford.

The full list of charges are as follows:

31-year-old Jamie-Lynn Gilkinson of North Huron has been arrested and charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (four counts)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Drive while under suspension
21-year-old Jeremy Welsh of North Perth has been arrested and charged with:
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
Additionally, the 39-year-old vehicle owner from North Huron, Adam Konkle, has been charged with:
  • Permit motor vehicle to be operated without insurance
The charges have yet to be proven in court.
