Wellington North C0VID-19 Update

Wellington North was able to use a federal grant received through the New Horizons for Seniors Program, to buy iPads for Caressant Care in Arthur, Birmingham Retirement Community in Mount Forest, Strathcona Long Term Care in Mount Forest, Royal Terrace in Palmerston, and Caressant Care in Harriston.

The iPads will assist residents in those facilities in connecting with their families and loved ones during this time of isolation.

In addition, a donation of $2,500 was made to both the Community Pantry in Mount Forest and the Arthur Food Bank from the grant money.

Municipal facilities remain closed until further notice.

Wellington North's continued priority is keeping the community safe while providing essential services such as water, wastewater, roads, and fire service.

Council meetings are being held electronically using the Zoom platform, with the next meeting scheduled for May 4, 2020. at 7:00 p.m.

In an effort to assist all taxpayers in the municipality who may be experiencing hardship, Council has endorsed waiving penalties and interest on the April 24, 2020 tax installment until June 30, 2020, and on the April and May water/sewer usage bills for the May and June 2020 billing cycles.

If you can make the payments, you are urged to do so in order to alleviate a financial burden later in the year.

Brush and yard waste will be picked up in Arthur on May 6 and June 3 and in Mount Forest on April 29 and May 27. Please check the website for details around acceptable material and times of pick up. All leaves, grass clippings and garden waste must in brown bags. All other urban areas in Wellington North (Kenilworth, Damascus, Conn, Maas Park Dr, and Spring Valley) will be collected by the County of Wellington under a new program. Collection dates are May 11 and June 1.

A COVID-19 Assessment Clinic has opened at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex and operates 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, closing daily between 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. You are encouraged to take the self-assessment tool before calling 519-323-0255 x 5082 to book an appointment.
