The Avon Maitland District School Board is celebrating Children's Mental Health Week this week.
Superintendent Jodie Baker says the Huron Perth Centre is the lead agency in Children's Mental Health Week and the Avon Maitland Board, along with several other partners, works with them.
"Every year, we and other organizations, work with them to offer music and art for mental health and this, of course, will be the first year that it's done on line," said Baker. "So we want to encourage students from everywhere to send submissions in to the For Music and Art for Mental Health."
Baker adds they're also launching a special series of Mindfulness Sessions with Mike Massey for students every Thursday.
"They're going to go every Thursday for a half hour session, starting this week during Mental Health Week," added Baker. "And the first session, for example, is just and introduction for students in Grades 7 to 12, 'Facts and Simple Tips for Applying Mindfulness' to their frustrations, worries and anxieties."
Baker says more information about all of their Children's Mental Health Week programs can be found on the Avon Maitland web site.
