EPCOR have recommenced their project to bring natural gas into the South Bruce area.
On May 4th, the project started back up after being deemed an essential service by the provincial government. EPCOR will work through the spring and summer to finish the installation. Last year, Phase 1 of the project included installing a 57 kilometre long 8-inch steel pipeline from Dornoch to the Bruce Energy Centre. This year, crews will finish this backbone of the project and begin installing networks to serve homes, farms and businesses.
EPCOR will begin work to connect customers in Kincardine, Inverhuron and Tiverton. Construction will begin in Kincardine and parts of Huron Kinloss in May, move to Inverhuron in July and Tiverton in September. Other communities including Chesley, Paisley, Lurgan Beach, Point Clark, Ripley and Lucknow will follow later this year.
Customers in Kincardine, Tiverton and Inverhuron are being asked to sign up for the natural gas service now at http://epcor.com/southernbruce.
Residents of Huron Kinloss with property between Saratoga Road and Concession Road 10, west of Lake Range Drive, are also eligible to sign up now for service this year. Customers in these areas who miss out on this first wave of installations may have another opportunity to do so, likely in 2022 or later.
“We started last year with some initial construction work on the broader system. And now, customers can sign up to get connected to the natural gas system outside their property for free. We’ll be hooking these customers up to the system later this year, as we complete the overall construction of the gas line network,” said Susannah Robinson, EPCOR's Vice President, Ontario Region.
