Hospitals in Huron County are receiving 1.1 million dollars in new funding from the province.
In a release on June 5th, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says 5 local hospitals will be splitting the new funding. The funding is part of the provincial government's goal to ensure they take into consideration incremental growth to support flexibility, annualizing 2019/20 in-year investments, and ensuring all publicly funded hospitals receive a minimum of a 1% increase.
Clinton Public Hospital will get $205,000 (2 percent increase), Seaforth Community Hospital will get $153,500 (1.9 percent increase), South Huron Hospital will get $157,700 (2 percent increase), Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich will get $358,300 (2 percent increase) and the Wingham and District Hospital $270,100 (1.9 percent increase).
“Our government recognizes the long-standing funding inequities for small- and medium-sized hospitals,” says Thompson. "To provide continued financial stability and relief, we have annualized the $68 million investment from 2019/20 for small and medium sized hospitals as part of this funding.”
The province is investing over 341 million dollars in hospitals across the province.
