Huron County fire chiefs are keeping a regional open-air fire ban in place.
Since July 8, Huron County has been under a ban, meaning no burn permits are being issued and no fires are allowed unless they are being used for cooking. And any cooking fire has to be confined to one meter in diameter and can only be started between noon and midnight.
The fire ban is in place due to the extreme dryness in the area's vegetation.
Officials are also urging caution when parking or refuelling engines on dry grass or fields and to not discard cigarette butts out the window while driving.
The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
