UPDATE: Thunderstorms keeps Hydro One crews busy

Updated 10:10 p.m., July 19

Thunderstorms that swept through the region Sunday knocked out the power to a number of areas through Huron, Perth, Bruce, Grey and Wellington counties.

The majority of the outages are noted to be in Huron County as crews work to restore power to thousands spread out across a wide area between Bayfield north past Goderich, and east through Blyth towards the boundary with Perth County.

A number of outages are also reported in the Atwood area and Stratford area.

In Bruce County, most of the outages are centered northwest of Walkerton. And in Grey County there are scattered outages in the Chatsworth and Flesherton areas as well as south of Durham.

In Wellington County there are a number of outages in the Palmerston, Teviotdale and Arthur areas.

Hydro One is stating the thunderstorms as the main cause.

Because of the widespread damage, some restoration times are into Monday afternoon.
