Huron Shores Hospice fundraiser evolves

Fundraisers for Huron Shores Hospice are reinventing the Handbags for Hospice event because of COVID-19.

The committee will be hosting a virtual event in September, "Hope for Hospice - the ungala-gala".

It will take place on Friday, September 25.

The gala will include access to a special take-out menu at local restaurants (food purchase separately), local entertainment, silent and live auctions and a 50/50 draw. The tickets are $50.

"We are very excited to bring this new and innovative event format to our community," said Cheryl Cottrill, co-chair of Huron Shores Hospice. "Finally, we can plan to attend an event in 2020 that we promise will not be cancelled because of COVID-19! It was disappointing to cancel our Handbags for Hospice event, as we know how much our community loves this event and looks forward to getting dressed up and participating in this fun evening. We are also very aware of the funding need for our community hospice, so we got a little creative and came up with a fun and innovative event that would benefit our community and our hospice. We will live-stream the event directly into your homes, allowing for social distancing and keeping our community safe. This event will give our small businesses the boost they need as they get back to business and ensure our community hospice remains sustainable into future years."

There is also a VIP add-on package for $25 that includes tips for hair and makeup and from a bartender for a welcome cocktail.

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to supporting the hospice.
