Saugeen Shores police lay weapons, drugs and break-and-enter charges

Saugeen Shores police have laid a lengthy list of charges following a recent break-and-enter theft.

On July 18 just after 4 a.m., police were called to a Southampton home to a suspected break-and-enter. A number of electronics were taken.

The investigation led police to a hotel where they found two suspects. They also found a quantity of cocaine, $15,000 and a loaded 9mm pistol.

A 19-year-old and 21-year-old, both from Toronto, face numerous charges.

1. Break and Enter and commit an indictable offence 2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 3. Theft Over $5,000 4. Unauthorized possession of a firearm 5. Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm 6. Breach of Firearms regulation – store firearm (unsafe) 7. Careless storage of a firearm X2 8. Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with 9. Possession of Schedule 1 substance – cocaine 10. Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 11. Fail to comply with a probation order (21-year-old man only)

Both accused were held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody pending an in-person court appearance at a later date.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.
