OPP highlight concerns of excessive speeding on the Bruce Peninsula

OPP are highlighting 16 stunt driving charges that have been issued on the Bruce Peninsula over the last four days.

Stunt driving is considered when speeds reach 50 km/h or higher than the posted speed limit. In these cases, the charges were laid after vehicles were flagged down for travelling 130 km/h or more in stretches where the speed limit was 80 km/h, mostly on Highway 6.

Those charged also received automatic seven day licence suspensions and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Drivers were between the ages of 20 and 48 and most were from the Toronto area, some from southern Ontario, including Woodstock and Windsor, and there was one driver from Quebec.

Charges were laid between last Friday and yesterday.
