Owen Sound police arrest reckless driver

A motorist is facing some serious consequences following a short police pursuit in Owen Sound

At about 11 p.m. on Sunday, a police officer noticed a motorist drive over the curb during a turn, and speed off.

The officers activated his lights after the incident on 8th Street East at 1st Avenue East, but the Honda Civic accelerated southbound onto 2nd Avenue East. The officer discontinued any effort to stop the vehicle due to public safety concerns.

However, the vehicle lost control a short time later and police found it with extensive damage near Greenwood Cemetery.

The 21-year-old driver and his 17-year -old passenger walked away from the vehicle with only minor injuries. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved.

An Owen Sound resident faces a long list of charges and a court date on November 5, 2020.
