Enbridge Gas is helping the Walkerton and Elmwood fire stations purchase firefighting training materials.
They are able to do so through a program called “Project Assist”, which supplements existing training for Ontario volunteer and composite fire departments in communities where Enbridge operates.
“At Enbridge Gas, safety is our priority. We’re proud to support Ontario firefighters who share our commitment to keeping our communities safe,” says Murray Costello, Director, Southeast Region Operations, Enbridge Gas.
This year, $100,000 will be shared by 20 Ontario fire departments. Funds will be used to purchase educational materials for firefighters to enhance life-saving techniques.
“On behalf of our two Brockton fire stations, located in Walkerton and Elmwood, I would like to thank Enbridge for their generous donation of $5,000 towards training materials,” says Training Coordinator Jeff Bradley. “Providing our firefighters with these educational materials helps to ensure they will have the necessary skill sets when needed to help themselves and others during emergencies. The fire service is an ongoing education and experience. Every day we learn something and every day we teach something.”
Since the launch of Project Assist in 2012, 194 grants have been provided to Ontario fire departments.
