Local MP supports employees wearing poppies at work

The Member of Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound was one of several politicians and veterans slammed a policy by Whole Foods that would have banned its employees from wearing poppies while on the job. Alex Ruff said he would never step foot inside of another Whole Foods location when it came to light that the grocer wouldn't allow employees to wear poppies, calling the US-based chain's decision "a failure of common sense". According to a tweet from Canadian Minister of Affairs Lawrence MacAulay late Friday afternoon, Whole Foods has reversed course on the call and employees can now wear poppies.

This followed Question Period at the House of Commons, where MP's had voted unanimously to call on all employers to allow staff to wear poppies between November 5th and 11th.
