Police say dangerous prank involving hiding on the road needs to stop

A group of teenagers was warned in Exeter last weekend for their involvement in a dangerous prank.

Just before 11 p.m. on November 7, police responded to Huron Street West in Exeter for a traffic hazard. A witness reported there was a group of at least 15 youth laying on the roadway with blankets covered over them. And as vehicles approached, the youth would get up and run away.

Officers located some of the teens who were then warned about this dangerous activity.

There were other similar incidents investigated by the OPP in other areas of the province.

Although the motivation was not confirmed in this incident, police believe the prank is another trending social media challenge.
