North Perth Council have approved a tender for the demolition of Listowel's historic Memorial Arena.
At the North Perth Council meeting on November 23rd, council reached a resolution to award the tender for demolition of the old rink to Waterloo Demolition Inc. as recommended by R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited. The decision to demolish the old rink was made last year after numerous public meetings and surveys. A plan is in place to erect a memorial garden for those who tragically lost their lives in the 1959 roof collapse at the arena. The cost of demolition is $186,350.
Work is expected to begin as soon as possible, and the requested timeline in North Perth's tender says the work should be completed no later than the end of April, 2021.
