The Huron Shores and Area Transit Service will make its first trip out of Bayfield at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Transit Coordinator Marina Cajic says the bus will leave from the old Bayfield Town Hall on Clan Gregor Square in Bayfield, with a stop at the intersection of Highway 21 and Cameron Street, before continuing south to the Zurich Hensall Road at St. Joseph. It will then on to Grand Bend and from there to London.
She says people will also have the option of transferring at Grand Bend to the Sarnia bus.
"I think people are excited for what's to come and they understand that this is just the beginning. We're trying to set up how the routes are going to look and then take it from there based on where the demand is, how we can grow the service, expand the schedules and the routes,” said Cajic.
Cajic adds they have built a lot of flexibility into their plan and this is the pilot project. So they have had three years to work out bugs, assess the demand and their ability to respond to that demand and then more forward.
