Perth-Wellington MPP announces Safe Restart Agreement funding boost

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has announced a funding boost for his region through the Safe Restart Agreement.

In a release on December 17th, Pettapiece says municipalities across Perth and Wellington will split an additional 1.4 million dollars in funding. The Safe Restart Agreement funding is designated from the provincial government to assist municipalities with the costs of delivering important local services during the COVID-19 pandemic, and also to ensure they do not carry an operational deficit into the following year. The Ontario government is allocating an additional $695 million across the province to provide financial relief for municipalities to ensure they do not carry operating deficits into 2021.

“This funding will help local municipalities to support services we rely on, while keeping their budgets on track,” says Pettapiece. “Obviously, it recognizes the effects of COVID-19, which have not been easy for anyone.”

The full breakdown of the funding split between all Perth-Wellington municipalities is as follows:
