Owen Sound adds temporary new bus route

The City of Owen Sound will add an extra Midtown bus route starting Monday.

The bus will operate until the end of March to accommodate the reduced ridership limit due to COVID-19 and the demand on most popular East Bayshore Route.

The new “Midtown” route will operate Monday to Saturday from 10a.m. to 3p.m. The “Midtown” route will depart from the Owen Sound Transit Terminal and include Walmart and the Hospital as part of its service run.

Maximum ridership will remain at 10 people on the bus at any given time on all routes. Face coverings remain mandatory.

Preventative measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 continue to be taken with frequent sanitizing of the buses and Transit Terminal.

"We are pleased to be offering this additional Midtown bus route to help accommodate residents during the pandemic. I would like to thank our transit staff for their continued dedication. I encourage residents to follow the provincial guidelines and only utilize the transit service for essential outings." said Mayor Ian Boddy.
